A revamped iteration of Tin Lizzy’s Cantina opens in the former Princi Italia space at 12th Street and Crescent Avenue. Called Tin Lizzy’s Taco Americana, it marks the first rebranded Tin Lizzy’s location from Southern Proper Hospitality restaurant group.
Apart from a new name and swapping out Southwestern kitsch for “California cool” and Palm Springs in the design, the menu for Tin Lizzy’s Taco Americana appears to be similar to that of the Cantina. This includes serving Korean barbecue, Buffalo chicken, and Philly cheesesteak tacos and skillets such as the Cowboy with rice, fried chicken tenders, queso blanco, bacon, avocado, black beans, and fresh jalapeños.
Expect new margaritas and other cocktails on the drinks menu here, like the Everything’s Bigger In... made with blood orange and Grand Marnier and the Freaky Tiki, incorporating both dark and pineapple rums, falernum, orgeat, and orange and pineapple juices topped with ginger beer.
“This design refresh is our way of giving our loyal fans something new and exciting to experience. It also allows us to attract a new generation of patrons who may be unfamiliar with Tin Lizzy’s,” a statement provided to Eater from Southern Proper Hospitality reads. “At this time, the Midtown location is the only Tin Lizzy’s Taco Americana, but any future locations will be based on this design direction. We are contemplating refreshing some of our existing locations, but some will keep their OG Tin Lizzy’s look and feel.”
