After permitting issues and inspections delayed the planned November opening, vegan barbecue restaurant Grass VBQ Joint finally opens Sunday, December 13, in Stone Mountain.
Owned by Terry Sargent, the menu serves vegan variations of smoked jerk wings, brisket, and sandwiches like smoked pulled jackfruit, a reuben with corned veef, and an oyster mushroom po’boy. Desserts include mini sweet potato pies and vegan cupcakes.
A grand opening takes place at the restaurant from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday with live music, giveaways, and cocktails. The first 25 people in line receive a free Titustown, Clucker, or GroveWay sandwich.
Sargent first opened Grass VBQ Joint as a food stall inside We Suki Suki’s Global Grub Collective in East Atlanta Village. Earlier this year, he moved the pop-up to Orpheus Brewing on Dutch Valley Place in Midtown. Saturday marks Grass VBQ Joint’s last day at the brewery before settling permanently in Stone Mountain.
