The Queso Shop — a new ghost kitchen with a walk-up takeout window — opens early next year in Atlanta’s Piedmont Heights neighborhood. The takeout and delivery restaurant, located on Liddell Drive, serves a variety of cheese dips, as well as tacos, nachos, and quesadillas from sister restaurant Yumbii.
Owner Carson Young first launched the Queso Shop as a food truck in Los Angeles four years ago, before moving the operation to Atlanta in 2019. Young expanded the truck’s menu for the new virtual restaurant to include family meals, margarita mixes, a surfer’s burrito, and loaded crispy tater tots. Until the Queso Shop officially opens, the truck will serve as the restaurant’s takeout and delivery hub on Liddell Drive.
“During the pandemic, we saw the rise of ghost kitchens and virtual restaurants, and we think those are here to stay,” Young says in a press release. “We’re excited to bring fans of Yumbii and The Queso Truck to a new location with easy pick-up and ordering capabilities.”
Young founded Yumbii in 2010 as a food truck, before opening his first permanent location six years later in the Buckhead neighborhood of Brookwood Hills. A second Yumbii location opened this summer in the Toco Hills neighborhood, taking over a former Radio Shack on North Druid Hills Road.
