Chef Kevin Rathbun has closed his restaurant Rathbun’s and wine and small plates restaurant Krog Bar at the Stove Works in Inman Park, Tomorrow’s News Today first reported. It appears the closures have been in the works for some time and are not due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Further reporting by the AJC indicates that the building in which Krog Bar resides may become parking for Krog Street Market. Rathbun tells the AJC he has been working to renegotiate the leases on the restaurants for nearly a year with Asana (the company which owns the property,) but could not come to an agreement. Asana also owns Krog Street Market across the street. However, it seems Krog Bar and Rathbun’s may return in some form in the future, possibly on property next to his restaurant Kevin Rathbun Steak along the Eastside Beltline. Rathbun apparently owns the property.
Rathbun plans to reopen KR Steakbar in Peachtree Hills and Kevin Rathbun Steak some time in June.
Eater Atlanta reached out to Rathbun for comment.
