Beginning the week of May 18, Ford Fry’s Westside Provisions District steakhouse Marcel and Inman Park seafood bar BeetleCat reopen for dine-in service. JCT Kitchen, the Optimist, and Superica at Battery Atlanta also reopen next week for takeout. Patio dining resumes on Thursday, May 14, at no. 246 and the Avalon, Krog Street Market, and Buckhead locations of Superica. King and Duke and St. Cecilia continue to remain closed.
Fry reopened three Superica locations, no. 246, and Little Rey for takeout on April 13. He initially closed all 12 of his restaurants in late March to allow his Rocket Farm employees to quarantine for two weeks. Little Rey, Fry’s chicken al carbon spot in Piedmont Heights, was forced to closed again late last week after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. The restaurant reopens for takeout Friday, May 15, following “two deep sanitations” and testing each member of Little Rey’s staff for the virus.
A representative speaking on behalf of Rocket Farm restaurant group would not comment further on the status of the employee who tested positive for COVID-19.
“Little Rey will continue to meet and exceed the CDC’s health and safety standards and will be conducting strict daily cleanings to maintain a sanitary, healthy and safe environment for all staff and guests,” the representative tells Eater in an email. “Across all Rocket Farm Restaurants, all employees will receive daily pre-work health screenings, are required to wear face coverings and gloves at all times and maintain compliance with all sanitation and health department standards.”
As for Marcel and BeetleCat, people can expect to see the restaurants sticking to the state-mandated guidelines in the dining rooms. This includes the use of disposable menus, six-foot social distance floor markings in waiting areas, no preset tables, and seating spaced out by at least six feet apart in the dining rooms and on patios. Reservations for both restaurants are highly encouraged.
“We are rolling out our restaurants in phases to make sure we understand the needs of our guests and our teams before moving onto the next phase of restaurants,” the representative says. “We feel we can reopen safely and efficiently at BeetleCat and Marcel due to many factors, including neighborhood, the size of the restaurants, size of the kitchens, and the flexibility of the menu offerings.”
Georgia restaurants may reopen for dine-in service with limited seating capacity and only if the set of 39 state-mandated guidelines are followed. During a COVID-19 press briefing earlier this week, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp announced he was increasing the party size at restaurants from six to ten people per table and the dining capacity from ten patrons per 500 square feet to ten patrons per 300 square feet. All other compliance guidelines for restaurants remain in place through at least May 31.
