TJ’s Sports Bar and Grill closed in Roswell after 30 years, the AJC reports. The longtime Holcomb Bridge Road sports bar and restaurant is co-owned by Mark Ecclestone and his father, Timothy Ecclestone, who was a forward for the former Atlanta Flames hockey team.

The lease on the property apparently expired in late March, right as restaurants and bars across metro Atlanta were shutting down due the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. TJ’s landlord offered a 30-day extension on the lease for the bar. The Ecclestones were unable to come to an agreement with the landlord on extending the lease further after the 30 days were up.

The father-and-son duo reportedly would consider reopening TJ’s in another location if the right property became available. Mark Ecclestone also put TJ’s popular wings on the takeout menu at his Johns Creek restaurant, Stone’s Cuisine and Cocktails. Stone’s is currently open for dine-in service and offers curbside pickup.

It’s unclear if the current health crisis directly lead to TJ’s closure. However, the bar’s closing may have been expedited by the pandemic and month-long dining room shutdowns in Georgia.
