After putting its March opening on hold due to the COVID-19 health crisis, Nashville-based Slim and Husky’s Pizza Beeria finally opens its second Atlanta location in Adair Park on Friday, June 19. While the Metropolitan Parkway restaurant is open for dine-in service, Slim and Husky’s includes the option to order online for pickup or delivery.
The first Atlanta Slim and Husky’s location opened in 2019 in the former One Rooster space at the 1016 Lofts complex along Howell Mill Road.
According to the AJC, owners Clinton Gray, Derrick Moore, and Emanuel Reed chose Friday, June 19 (known as “Juneteenth”) to open the restaurant because the date is “symbolic for the community.” Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the United States, and is the nation’s oldest commemoration. All but four states celebrate Juneteenth as a holiday or official observance.

Slim and Husky’s serves pizzas inspired by 1990s Hip-Hop and R&B artists, like the pepperoni-laden pie Rony, Roni, Rone! for the group Tony! Toni! Toné! or the Cee No Green, which pays tribute to crooner CeeLo Green from Atlanta-based Goodie Mob. The red sauce pizza is topped with ground beef, pepperoni, hickory smoked bacon, Canadian bacon, and Italian sausage.
In addition to its pizzas, the restaurant also offers pastas, salads, and cinnamon rolls and a selection of mostly local beers on tap.
