A massive water main break early Saturday afternoon sent a river of rushing water down Ferst Drive and Hemphill Avenue on the Georgia Tech campus in Midtown.

Atlanta Department of Watershed Management reported a 36-inch main break at Ferst Drive and Hemphill Avenue. Residents and businesses north of the water main break were not as severely impacted, but several neighborhoods to the south and east, including Inman Park, Old Fourth Ward, Candler Park, Grant Park, and Kirkwood, experienced either low water pressure or no water for most of Saturday.

Water service was restored to affected areas by Saturday evening, but a boil water advisory remains in effect for portions of the city, along with the cities of South Fulton, Union City, Fairburn, and Chatthoochee Hills south of Atlanta.

Atlanta Watershed Management is still working to repair the broken main.

Some restaurants announced temporary closures on Saturday due to the boil water advisory and as Atlanta Watershed Management worked to repair the broken water main and restore service. A few places continue to remain closed on Sunday as a precaution due to the boil water advisory. Check back for updates.

Please check individual restaurant social media accounts for updates on reopening plans.
