The second location of Westview-based vegan burger restaurant Slutty Vegan opened Saturday, July 11, in the south metro Atlanta city of Jonesboro to lines around the block. According to Instagram, the wildly popular restaurant, owned by Clark Atlanta University alumna Aisha “Pinky” Cole, fed one thousand people throughout the day on Saturday.

On its first day in January 2019 in the Westview neighborhood, Slutty Vegan sold over 1,200 meatless burgers. Lines continue to snake around the block for the restaurant’s provocatively named meat-free burgers like the “One Night Stand” and “Ménage à Trois”.

The Jonesboro restaurant features an expanded menu with more choices and new items, like a sea moss banana pudding. Unlike the Westview restaurant, the Jonesboro location includes indoor seating. However, the dining room is currently closed due to the ongoing health crisis and the restaurant remains takeout only for now. Masks are also required to enter and must be worn at all times while inside.

“Over the past year and a half, we have impacted Atlanta in a huge way with our fast-casual junk food that is completely plant-based. Every day, people are standing in line for hours to experience the juicy goodness of our plant-based burgers,” Cole said in a prepared statement. “We look forward to expanding our presence throughout the Metro-Atlanta area. In addition to the restaurant, we look forward to spearheading community and philanthropic efforts here.”

Cole, along with Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks owner Derrick Hayes, helped purchase a car for Tomika Miller, the widow of Rayshard Brooks, and is providing life insurance policies and scholarships for his four children to attend Clark Atlanta University. Brooks was shot and killed by Atlanta police office Garrett Rolfe in a Wendy’s parking lot off of University Avenue on the evening of June 12.

A representative for Cole tells Eater Atlanta the third Slutty Vegan location should open later this summer on Edgewood Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward next door to Edgewood Pizza.

Cole founded Slutty Vegan as a delivery service in the summer of 2018. People contacted her via Instagram to place their burger orders. The vegan burgers quickly amassed a cult following, eventually leading to a food truck and late night popups around Atlanta University Center on the city’s west side. Even then, lines formed before the truck arrived on site.
