Craft beer and wine shop Hop City and its Alpharetta-based restaurant Barleygarden Kitchen & Craft Bar open locations at the Pinewood Forest development in Fayetteville on Friday, July 24. According to the press release, the retail shop and restaurant share a two-story space along J. Arthur Rank Avenue, across from Pinewood Movie Studios.
On the first floor, Hop City features garage doors opening to the outside in order to increase airflow inside the store and a bar (like its Krog Street Market location) serving local, domestic, and international beers. In addition to craft beer, the shop also carries wine and offers growlers and growler refills.
Barleygarden, located on the second floor, features a large covered patio and bar with some indoor seating. Chef Brian Carson expands upon the menu served at the Avalon location in Alpharetta, bringing in a few dishes from the company’s West End neighborhood restaurant, Boxcar. Expect dishes like loaded pork skins with blue cheese crumble dressing, smoked chicken wings, fish and chips, Korean-style fried chicken, po’boys, and a build-your-own burger section, with a choice of beef, chicken, or vegan beet patty. A rotating selection of 72 beers, wine, and cocktails are available at the bar.
Once open, customers will be required to wear masks inside Hop City and when not seated at their table or at the bar at Barleygarden. People access the food and drink menus via QR codes scanned using a smartphone. For now, no more than 10 people at one table and two people every six feet at the bar will be permitted to dine together.
“Our paramount concern is the safety and health of our staff and customers,” owner Kraig Torres says in a prepared statement. “We are taking every possible precaution to assure we are confidently opening our doors to an environment the community feels comfortable to enjoy.”
A location of Italian restaurant and pizzeria Amici Italian Café and nearly a dozen other restaurants, including Braise and second locations of Pancake Social and Honeysuckle Gelato, plan to open over the next year at Pinewood Forest’s Village Square.
