Escobar Restaurant & Tapas co-owners Mychel “Snoop” Dillard and rapper Tauheed “2Chainz” Epps are opening another Atlanta restaurant — this time in the former Mother bar space on Edgewood Avenue, What Now Atlanta first reported.
Mother Bar and Kitchen closed in June after eight years on Edgewood Avenue. The bar, which shuttered in late-March due to the pandemic, could not overcome the crippling financial effects caused by the ongoing health crisis.
Dillard and Epps announced their latest venture together on Instagram Monday, and it appears the restaurant will be a seafood spot. In his post, Epps tags @escoseafood (Esco Seafood) and alludes to the restaurant opening some time in October.
When reached for comment Tuesday, a representative speaking on behalf of the partners told Eater Atlanta more details would be provided soon, but declined to comment further on the forthcoming restaurant.
Dillard and Epps opened Escobar four years ago on Peters Street in the Castleberry Hill neighborhood. The restaurant and lounge serves a seafood-heavy menu of small plates, along with hookahs and cocktails. Escobar is currently open for dine-in service as well as takeout, which can be ordered online for pick-up at the restaurant. A second location resides in the city of Morrow, Georgia, just south of Atlanta.
