Red Hare Brewing Company will soon begin producing gin, vodka, and rum from its Marietta facility on Delk Industrial Boulevard. The nearly decade-old brewery, which now includes a location in the town of Shallotte, North Carolina, revealed its new name (Red Hare Brewing and Distilling) and its plans to distill spirits on Instagram and Facebook late Tuesday morning.
“Expanding into the distilling world is something that the Red Hare team has had planned for almost a year. We’re excited to be able to see that dream become a reality,” a representative for Red Hare said in an email to Eater. “We chose to start with vodka, gin, and rum because we wanted to make sure that we had multiple options for our customers to choose from. These products can be enjoyed by themselves or in cocktails.”
For now, Red Hare will not produce whiskey or bourbon. No further details were provided regarding when the brewery’s new spirits or cocktails will be available for purchase in the taproom.
Owner Roger Davis announced earlier this month that Red Hare Brewing would be taking over the former Hemingway’s Bar and Grill space in downtown Marietta. Hemingway’s closed after 27 years on the historic town square. The AJC reported Red Hare’s latest taproom will feature a restaurant, retail shop, and an event space when it eventually opens. No opening ETA was given.
In addition to its IPAs, lagers, stouts, and seasonal beers, Red Hare Brewing also makes non-alcoholic root beer and grapefruit soda, which are both brewed using pure cane sugar.
