Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks continues its Atlanta expansion with a new food truck and restaurant
Derrick Hayes, the man behind the line-inducing Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks in downtown Atlanta, just added a food truck to the mix, and plans to open his next restaurant later this fall in Doraville. Big Dave’s is known for its Philly-style cheesesteaks and cheesesteak egg rolls stuffed with beef, salmon, or chicken. The food truck’s menu centers around Big Dave’s super popular egg rolls. A press release indicates Hayes purchased the food truck in order to “better serve” the restaurant’s “loyal fan base” who often form lines down the block at the restaurant on Forsyth Street. The second location of Big Dave’s should open in November at the Peachtree Pavilion Shopping Center on Peachtree Road. [Official]

Che Butter Jonez food truck lands a permanent home
Occupy the Hood activist Malik Rhasaan got Che Butter Jonez rolling as a food truck in 2018. Two years later, Che Butter Jonez is one of Atlanta’s most popular mobile food businesses, known best for its That Sh!T Slambing burger — a oft-ordered lamb burger topped with lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions, and herb sauce. Now Rhassan and wife Detric Fox-Quinlan plan to open a restaurant next to a Chevron on Cleveland Avenue in southwest Atlanta. According to the AJC, the restaurant could open by the end of December as a takeout joint with limited seating. Until it opens, people can still find the Che Butter Jonez food truck frequenting the Met complex in West End and Triton Yards food truck park on Sylvan Road. Follow the truck on Instagram for the latest location and menu updates. Order online for takeout. [AJC]
