Despite all of the uncertainties and financial upheaval brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, dozens of Atlanta restaurant and bar owners and food and beverage entrepreneurs plan to open new establishments in 2021.

Check out this list of dozens of restaurants, bars, and coffee shops — most announced in 2020 — set to open around Atlanta in 2021.

Food Terminal, owned by the family behind Sweet Hut Bakery, opens a third location early next year in the former Fuddruckers space on North Point Parkway.

Shake Shack opens a fifth metro Atlanta location later this year on Haynes Bridge Road. The restaurant features a drive-thru window.

Up on the Roof, a rooftop restaurant serving Southern comfort food and cocktails, opens this summer at Liberty Hall on South Main Street in the heart of downtown Alpharetta.


Sunshine Alchemy, a vegetarian and vegan food truck turned cafe, is opening on Presidential Parkway as part of the growing collection of Prep Atlanta incubator restaurants.


Capella Cheese, a cheese shop featuring handmade, artisan selections co-owned by Raymond Hook, opens this fall on Ottley Drive.

Victory Brands, the group behind Victory Sandwich Bar, LLoyd’s, and Little Trouble, plans to open a new restaurant concept at the recently opened Indie Studios complex on Ottley Drive.

Avondale Estates

Leftie Lee’s, a sandwich shop and bakery from Foodcation Forever chef and baker Vivian Lee, brings Korean-inspired baked goods and sandwiches to Olive and Pine in 2022.

Battery Atlanta

Eataliano Kitchen opens this spring next to Park Bench at the Braves stadium complex.

Mac McGee opens a second location at the Battery Atlanta this summer. The menu for the Cobb County location will be similar to the Roswell restaurant.

Berkeley Park

The Daily opens on Trabert Avenue next spring. The Charleston-based coffee shop and cafe is owned by Michael and Melody Shemtov, who also own Butcher and Bee in Charleston and Redheaded Stranger in Nashville.


Corner Grille is opening on Marietta Boulevard in the former Westside Pizza space serving Cajun and Creole fare.

Juniper Cafe, Vietnamese restaurant and bakery from Lazy Betty owners Ron Hsu and Aaron Phillips, open this summer at Westside Village.


Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q opens a third location by next summer in the former Hudson FC International Sports Pub space at Brookhaven Station on Peachtree Road.

Brookwood Hills

The Usual, from Nick’s Westside chef Nick Leahy and Dash Hospitality founder David Abes opens at the Arya complex across from El Azteca on Peachtree Street this fall.


5Church Atlanta opens this fall on Peachtree Road in Buckhead, taking over the former Sage Woodfire Grill space near Lenox Square.

Alon’s Bakery and Market plans to open a location at upscale mall Phipps Plaza in Buckhead this summer.

Carmel, a coastal cuisine-inspired restaurant and bar from Tal Baum, opens at Buckhead Village next year.

Cava, a Mediterranean restaurant chain, is opening 14 locations throughout metro Atlanta. The first opened in Buckhead on June 25.

Fetch the Old Fourth Ward dog park and bar opens its second Atlanta location at Buckhead Village District by spring.

Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse reopens this fall at Phipps Plaza.

Le Bon Nosh market and all-day cafe opens at the Irby apartment complex this July.

Recess opens this fall in the former Cafe Posh space at Hanover Buckhead Village

Roshambo, and all-day diner, takes over the former Another Broken Egg Cafe space in the Peachtree Battle Shopping Center on Peachtree Street next summer.

Saint-Germain Bakery opens a bakery-cafe later this summer at Buckhead Village.

Zakia Lebanese, Mendocino Farms, a location of Yard Milkshake Bar, and Mexican restaurant CT Reforma are all slated to open over the course of the coming year at Modera Prominence on Lenox Road.

Capitol View

A Mano opens next summer on Sylvan Road. First reported. Opened in 2017 at the corner of Ralph McGill Boulevard and Glen Iris Drive, owner George DeMeglio hopes to begin construction on the restaurant this summer.

Castleberry Hill

Brooklyn Tea should open this summer, featuring nearly 100 types of loose-leaf teas, along with other hot and iced tea drinks and should also serve vegan pastries on the menu.


Cajun Seafood Kitchen opens in October on Buford Highway.

Spice and Sky, a rooftop bar and restaurant opening in June at the Holiday Inn and Suites in Chamblee, hired Bhojanic and Tandoori Pizza and Wing Co. chef and owner Archna Becker to help develop and consult on the menu.

The Distillery of Modern Art plans to open this spring on Irvindale Way near the Chamblee MARTA station. The building will house a distillery producing vodka, gin, whiskey, and possibly an amaro or herbal liqueur.


Glide Pizza is opening this fall inside new brewery Inner Voice Brewing.

Muchacho taco and coffee bar opens a second location next year behind Leon’s Full Service.


Grant Park Coffeehouse relocates September 29 to downtown Atlanta and opens a second location in Grant Park next year.

Gusto is opening at the corner of Park Place and Edgewood Avenue in the former Kung Fu Tea space this fall


Hattie Marie’s Texas Style BBQ expands to Duluth this year.

Slutty Vegan is opening a fourth Atlanta-area location, replacing Batteries Plus Bulbs on Pleasant Hill Road.

Snackboxe Bistro opens a second location in September on Pleasant Hill Road focused on Lao barbecue.


Barn, an indoor/outdoor bar opening in Dunwoody Village, will serve wine, craft beer, and whiskey drinks along with light food.

Puttshack opens its second Atlanta-area location by 2023, this time at the forthcoming High Street development.

Superica opens at Ashford Lane next summer.

The Hall at Ashford Lane, a nine-stall food hall, opens inside the former Henredon Furniture store at Perimeter Place (soon to be renamed Ashford Lane) on Olde Perimeter Way.

East Atlanta

Pollo Supremo opens for pollo asado, sides like rice and beans and elote, soup, family meals, and desserts such as churros and flan.

Southern Feed Store, a six stall food hall anchored by Brazilian coffee and cocktail bar Buteco, takes over the former Graveyard Tavern space on Glenwood Avenue this summer.

Woody’s Cheesesteaks is slated for the six-stall food hall Southern Feed Store opening in the old Graveyard Tavern space in East Atlanta Village.

East Cobb

Gusto! opens at the Parkaire Landing development in East Cobb this summer. It will be the second location with a drive-thru.

East Lake

Hippin’ Hops brewpub adds a second location later in the year at the Hosea and 2nd development.

English Avenue

Westside Motor Lounge, a new bar, restaurant, and entertainment venue, opens next year at the Echo Street West development emerging at the corner of Northside Drive and Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway.

Exurbs — outer metro Atlanta

The Exchange, a large mixed-used development taking shape in the Gwinnett County city of Buford, will contain several restaurants as part of its dining district, including a food hall.

Glenwood Park

Pho Cue, the pop-up that mixes Vietnamese flavors with central Texas barbecue, opens as a restaurant later this fall.

Grant Park

Cocktail bar Zoo Bar opens in the former Cardinal space at the Beacon this spring serving bistro-type fare, charcuterie, and Mediterranean-style tapas paired with “speakeasy-style” cocktails.

Grant Park Coffeehouse relocates September 29 to downtown Atlanta and open a second location in Grant Park next year.

Grove Park

Bankhead Seafood, backed by Atlanta rappers Killer Mike and T.I., opens as a 130-seat, two-story restaurant on Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway.


Spoon, the Ormewood Park Thai restaurant owned by Sujaree Hewitt and her family, opens its second location in the south metro Atlanta city later this year.

Home Park

Hattie B’s hot chicken opens a second Atlanta location at 10th Street and Howell Mill Road.

Inman Park

BrewDog, the controversial UK-based brewing company, is opening an Atlanta location next year at the Stove Works complex.

Kitty Dare, a Mediterranean restaurant, takes over the former One Eared Stag space on Edgewood Avenue later this fall.

Painted Park takes over the Brasserie and Neighborhood Cafe at Parish space on North Highland Avenue and will serve food and drinks with expanded outdoor seating and lawn games along the Beltline.


Bellsmouth Cafe and 3 Heart Coffee Roastery open at the historic Pratt Pullman District development taking shape along Rogers Street.

Longtime Kirkwood neighborhood bar and restaurant Ration and Dram becomes Dead End Drinks October 1 with its kitchen dedicated to serving food from roving Atlanta chefs and pop-ups.

Kamayan ATL, the highly popular Filipino food pop-up founded by Mia Orino and Carlo Gan, opens as a restaurant in Atlanta this year.

Le Petit Marche reopens this summer with new owners, Osiris Ballard and chef Anthony Sanders of Atlanta Breakfast Club and ABC Chicken and Waffles.


101 Bagel Cafe opens a third location on Lower Roswell Road this fall.

McCray’s Tavern owner Scott McCray has purchased the former Bramble Bar and Kitchen space on Marietta Square. It’s unclear if this will become another location of McCray’s or an entirely new restaurant.


By Weight and Measure, owned by Johnny Martinez and Brandon Ley (Joytstick Gamebar, Georgia Beer Garden) and Ian Carlson, opens at the Collective at Coda.

Holeman and Finch pub finally reopens this year at Colony Square.

Rose Bistro and Champagne Bar opens this fall at Atlantic Station in Midtown.

Rumi’s Kitchen opens a third Atlanta location of the Persian restaurant at Colony Square.

Saints and Council, a new restaurant from the former CEO of Cafe Intermezzo, opens this summer at Colony Square.

Shake Shack is apparently opening its sixth Atlanta-area location on the outskirts of Piedmont Park in Midtown, near the 12th Street entrance.

SmoQue Burger burger and sandwich shop opens at the Collective at Coda.

Taste of Greece opens this year in the former Bareburger space on Peachtree Street in Midtown just north of the Fox Theatre.

Moores Mill

Spiller Park opens its third location this fall at the Publix-anchored Moores Mill Center complex.

Yumbii and takeout restaurant the Queso Shop are opening at the Publix-anchored Moores Mill Center on Marietta Boulevard later this year.


Octopus, an “upscale casual” seafood restaurant and bar, is taking over the now shuttered Mexican restaurant and tequila bar Lazy Llama Cantina space.

Multiple Atlanta Locations

CRU Hemp Lounge, owned by Atlanta-based restaurateur Dennis McKinley (the Original Hot Dog Factory), opens in multiple locations this summer, including in Union City, Douglasville, Marietta, Morrow, and Alpharetta. Two additional locations on Old National Highway and Decatur are also in the works.


Ford’s BBQ is set to replace Matador Mexican Cantina in Oakhurst this summer.

Yet-named restaurant from the owner of El Tesoro is opening in the former Lawrence’s Cafe space, serving drinks centered on mezcal and dishes based on the foods of Acapulco.

Old Fourth Ward

Atrium restaurant and bar opens this winter in the former Brezza Cucina space on the first floor of the central food hall at Ponce City Market.

Boon Development opens a restaurant and market on Decatur Street near Fetch dog park and bar, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports.

Handlebar bar, from the owner of Edgewood Pizza, opens at the corner of Edgewood and Boulevard.

Kuro, from chefs Todd Richards and Joshua Lee, opens in the former Hazel Jane’s wine bar space next to Cold Beer. The menu will focus on seafood and serve a mix of Japanese fare and ingredients fused with Soul food dishes.

Papi’s Cuban Cuisine opens at Krog Street Market this spring next to Soul: Food and Culture.

Ponce City Market expands the central food hall with new stalls this summer, including Vietnamese restaurant Vietvana and rotisserie chicken from Chai Pani and Botiwalla chef Meherwan Irani.

Seabird Oyster Bar opens next spring along the Eastside Beltline trail with a menu centered around raw bar selections and other seafood dishes paired with cocktails and sparkling wine.

Socu Prime, owned by chef Erica Barrett, opens in February 2022 next door to upcoming brewery Biggerstaff Brewing Company and Staplehouse Market.

Sweetgreen, the billion-dollar salad chain, expands to Atlanta with at least three new locations. The first has opened at Ponce City Market.

Nashville-based Red Pebbles Hospitality, the group behind Adele’s and the 404 Kitchen, plans to open a restaurant beside Staplehouse Market and forthcoming brewery Biggerstaff Brewing on Edgewood Avenue.

Peachtree Corners

H&W Steakhouse opens in the former Black Walnut Cafe space on Peachtree Parkway.

Jinbei West, from the owner of Yakitori Jinbei in Smyrna, is opening Jinbei West on Town Center Boulevard this fall.

Kettlerock Brewing opens early this year, taking over the former Nemoe’s Tavern and Grill space on Peachtree Parkway.

Perimeter Center

Red Pepper Taqueria is opening on Ashford Dunwoody Road. This marks the fourth location for the popular taqueria which plans to take over the former Zinburger Wine and Burger Bar.


Aftercar Bar, the social house, pop-up kitchen, and shared work space from Beltline creator Ryan Gravel, opens its first phase in September to members and the public.

East Pole Coffee opens by the end of the year in the former San Francisco Coffee/Apotheos Roastery space at Plaza on Ponce.

Fishmonger seafood market and takeaway cafe opens at the Plaza on Ponce shopping center, home to the historic Plaza Theatre, the Righteous Room, and Southern Belle.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams takes over the former Queen of Cream space at the Plaza on Ponce complex this year.

Jinya Ramen still plans to open at Plaza on Ponce along North Highland Avenue in the back of the complex.

Powder Springs

Smith Gourmet Creations, a catering service and food truck serving comfort foods like fried shrimp, blackened salmon cake egg rolls, and garlic butter crab fries, is opening a permanent restaurant by the end of the year.


La Semilla, opening at Modera Reynoldstown on Memorial Drive, will serve a menu centered around vegan Latin dishes and drinks, including crunch wraps made with seitan beef and sopes with seitan asada as well as squash empanadas and king oyster mushroom carnitas enchiladas.

Muchacho cafe and bar expands into the Golden Eagle restaurant and cocktail bar space on Memorial Drive after it closed there on May 2.

A yet-named outdoor bar and restaurant from the team behind Grindhouse Killer Burgers is opening at the redeveloped Stein Steel and Supply Co. plant along the Eastside Beltline trail next year.


Bryan Furman BBQ, a new restaurant owned by pitmaster Bryan Furman opening in early 2022, will be a celebration of Black barbecue traditions. The existing house on the Bolton Road property will be torn down to make way for a new building and smokehouse. Read the full story here.


Cubanos ATL should open later this year behind former live music venue Gypsy Rose on Alpharetta Street.

Foundation Social Eatery opens in downtown Alpharetta early next year. And the new location will include a Parisian-style shop serving grab-and-go sandwiches, salads, charcuterie, and coffee drinks.

Sandy Springs

Baraonda closed after 21 years at the corner of Peachtree and 3rd streets in Midtown, but is relocating to the Adley City Springs apartment complex on Roswell Road next year.

South Downtown

How Crispy and a Slater Hospitality (Nine Mile Station, Skyline Park) yet-named pizzeria and underground cocktail bar are opening at the historic Hotel Row redevelopment on Mitchell Street.

Pins Mechanical Company, Ohio-based arcade and game bar, will open at the historic 222 Mitchell building across from Hotel Row.

Wild Leap opens a location with two levels this fall at Centennial Yards South, part of a 50-acre redevelopment of the historic Gulch and railyards.

A yet-named 21-stall food hall from Chattahoochee Food Works co-founder Robert Montwaid will serve as the anchor tenant when it opens next year at Underground Atlanta.

South Forsyth County

Il Bottegone European-style market opens at the Halcyon development this fall.


Concept modern American diner still plans to open along Georgia Avenue.

D Boca N Boca, a Mexican gastropub from Real Mexican Vittles mobile kitchen owner Helio Bernal, opens this year along Georgia Avenue.

Hodgepodge Coffeehouse should open another Atlanta location along Hank Aaron Drive.

How Crispy Express sandwich shop opens in August across from Little Tart Bakeshop on Georgia Avenue.

Press Start, from Char Korean and Girl Diver owner chef Richard Tang, opens as an old school arcade and bar along Georgia Avenue.

Redacted Basement Drink Parlor, the Summerhill conspiracy theory-themed bar, still plans to open along Georgia Avenue.

Sweet Auburn

A new restaurant from Asa Fain, the owner of Downtown restaurant Apache Cafe, opens in a building formerly home to Auburn Avenue Rib Shack and Thelma’s Kitchen and Rib Shack later this year.

Toco Hills

Salaryman is opening at the Toco Hill Shopping Center on North Druid Hills Road next year.

The Queso Shop relocates from Piedmont Heights to the Toco Hill Shopping Center this fall.


Antico Pizza is opening at the Publix-anchored Hugh Howell Marketplace this fall.

Underwood Hills

Brash Kitchen all-day cafe opens at the Works next year from Brash founder Chris McLeod and Stop Think Chew chef and owner Julia Kesler Imerman.

Chattahoochee Food Works sees the first restaurant stalls opening this spring and summer and throughout the summer at the 31-stall food hall. The food hall includes a location of popular Cuban sandwich shop Cubanos ATL. Several stalls are now open.

Fetch Park opens by the end of the year at the Works complex, an 80-acre development that includes food hall Chattahoochee Food Works.

Scoville Hot Chicken takes over the former P. Red’s BBQ space at the corner of Chattahoochee Avenue and Defoor Circle.

Waffle Experience, a California-based breakfast and brunch restaurant, opens at the Works development along Chattahoochee Avenue in northwest Atlanta.

A yet-named, tapas restaurant backed by the Select and Paces and Vine owner Dave Green opens at the Works next summer.


Bartaco opens next summer at Vinings Jublilee, replacing Mexican restaurant Guaco Joe’s at the boutique complex.


Pielands, a pizzeria and slice shop owned by Billy Streck of Nina and Rafi and Hampton and Hudson, opens in the former Goin’ Coastal space in Virginia-Highland this fall.

West End

Edgewood Pizza — the home of “king slices” — opens a second location at the Sky Lofts complex on Oak Street near the West End Mall.

Lake and Oak Neighborhood Barbecue, owned by chefs Todd Richards and Josh Lee, opens later this year at the Lee and White complex.

Portrait Coffee, an Atlanta-based roastery, opens later this year at the Lottie Watkins Building on Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard, one block north of the historic Wrens Nest House Museum.

A yet-named food hall joins restaurants, breweries, offices, and retail shops now open at or planned for the Lee and White complex along the Westside Beltline.

Westside-Howell Mill Road/Brady Avenue

Bastone, a mozzarella, pasta, and wine bar from the White Bull/Grana chef Pat Pascarella, opens in the former Bocado space this year.

Cathy’s Gourmet Ice Cream Sandwiches opens at the Interlock, currently under construction across from Westside Provisions District.

Fight Club, a dart bar and restaurant based in the UK, opens next year at the emerging Star Metals complex.

Humble Pie, a restaurant serving wood-fired pizzas, pot pies, and a variety of dessert pies from Lazy Betty chefs Ron Hsu and Aaron Phillips, opens at the Interlock on Howell Mill Road next spring.

Leave of Absence (L.O.A.), a resort-style pool, outdoor bar, and restaurant venue from the company behind Ponce City Market rooftop restaurant Nine Mile Station and Skyline Park, opens on the roof of the Interlock on Howell Mill Road this fall.

Mujo, the Castellucci Hospitality-backed sushi pop-up, opens next door to Cooks and Soldiers on Howell Mill Road this summer.

Pour Taproom opens at the Interlock across from Westside Provisions District this fall.

Savi Provisions is opening another neighborhood market this fall at the emerging Star Metals complex on Howell Mill Road.

SMR Tap bar could open this winter at the emerging Star Metals complex on Howell Mill Road.

Sushi Hayakawa relocates from Buford Highway next year to the ground floor of Star Metals on Howell Mill Road.

Wagamama Japanese and ramen restaurant is opening at the Star Metals complex along Howell Mill Road.

Yeah! Burger reopens this fall with not only a newly renovated interior and refreshed logo, but a “100% plant-based” menu, too.

Atlanta Location TBD

Amar Bien was to open at the Westside Village complex on Marietta Boulevard. Those plans were scraped while owners Howard and Anita Hsu scout new locations for the restaurant.

Bocado closed March 27 on Howell Mill Road, but owner Brian Lewis plans to reopen the restaurant known for its burger elsewhere, possibly in another westside Atlanta neighborhood.

Botanico Kitchen and Bar in Buckhead closed above Savi Provisions on Pharr Road, but plans to relocate the club-like Mexican restaurant and bar are already underway.

Dear Friend Bagels, owned by Dale Donchey of Spiller Park Coffee, will open as a bagel shop and delicatessen in Atlanta. Donchey tells Eater he’s eyeing space in downtown Atlanta.

Nourish Botanica, a sustainable greenhouse cafe owned by Quianah Upton, should open somewhere in South Atlanta by the end of 2021.

Painted Pickle, a bar and restaurant focused on the game of pickleball, will open an in-town Atlanta location and a location outside the Perimeter.
