After pivoting to takeout only and then closing during the height of the pandemic last summer, the Marietta Street location of Delia’s Chicken Sausage Stand and its rooftop container deck are back open for business. The deck features (mostly unobstructed) views of the downtown Atlanta skyline. While not currently open 24 hours on the weekends yet, Delia’s is open daily until 11 p.m. serving a variety of chicken sausage sliders, burritos, and bowls. Hours are expected to expand in the coming week, as is the menu, which may again include the popular chili cheese chicken dogs, chicken meatballs, and lasagna. People can also purchase Delia’s chicken sausage links and patties frozen at the restaurant (which are also available at most Kroger and Publix grocery stores.)

Rumors of Delia’s permanent closure on Marietta Street persisted over the last several months since its closure in June 2020. However, the building was never listed for lease and furniture and equipment remained in place. Owner Delia Champion first opened her popular chicken sausage stand on Moreland Avenue in East Atlanta 10 years ago, followed by this larger second location in 2014. Both restaurant locations are frequented by folks seeking late-night eats in Atlanta, especially on Friday and Saturday nights when Delia’s was open 24 hours. Champion opened the first Flying Biscuit Cafe in Candler Park in 1993, along with a second location on 10th Street in 2000. [IG]

Bottega Benne closes at Irwin Street Market

The Italian antipasti charcuterie and cheese spread business, owned by Blaire Dorin, is now closed in the back of Irwin Street Market. Dorin posted about the closure on Instagram, citing safety concerns stemming from “structural issues with our building.” However, it appears Dorin is considering next steps for her popular boards business.
