Midtown Mexican restaurant and tequila bar Escorpión closes at the end of February after 10 years on Peachtree Street.
Riccardo Ullio, the owner behind Fritti and Sotto Sotto in Inman Park, says he failed to come to terms with the landlord on the lease, according to a report by What Now Atlanta. Coro Realty now lists the restaurant space for rent — a prime piece of Midtown real estate on the corner of Peachtree and 5th streets and a little over two blocks north of the Fox Theatre. With the Fox Theatre currently closed and offices in the area remaining mostly empty due to the pandemic, many of the restaurants and hotels along this stretch of Peachtree Street in Midtown continue to struggle.
Ullio, who also owns Novo Cucina in Dunwoody, first opened Escorpión in 2011. The Day of the Dead-themed restaurant known for its lively patio serves tacos, fajitas, and enchiladas paired with tequila and margaritas.
