A new rooftop restaurant, aptly named Up on the Roof, opens this summer at Liberty Hall on South Main Street in the heart of downtown Alpharetta.
The 7,000-square-foot restaurant and bar, overlooking city hall in the north metro Atlanta suburb, features indoor-outdoor seating with fireplaces throughout and panoramic views of the surrounding area, including of Kennesaw Mountain to the west.
In addition to cocktails and bottled drinks from the bar, people can expect the menu from Up on the Roof to lean toward Southern comfort food, including deviled eggs, grouper and grits, drunken mussels, rabbit tacos, and beer-brined frog legs called swamp wings.
Once open, Up on the Roof plans to offer dinner and drinks nightly as well as weekend brunch. A location of Up on the Roof opened in Greenville, South Carolina, four years ago, with more locations in the works.

Mow’s Chinese Kitchen, a takeout and delivery restaurant, recently opened in a stand in front of Lapeer Seafood Market at Alpharetta City Center. The virtual restaurant comes from Maven Restaurant Group (Lapeer Seafood Market, South Main Kitchen, Butcher and Brew) and serves a menu of dishes paying homage to owner Louis Soon’s Chinese heritage.
Atlanta restaurateur Gary Lin just opened a second location of his highly popular Decatur Sichuan restaurant Hai Authentic Chinese on Windward Parkway in Alpharetta, taking over the former Swagat Indian Cuisine space.
