A second location of Old Fourth Ward Italian restaurant A Mano opens next summer on Sylvan Road in the southwest Atlanta neighborhood of Capitol View, What Now Atlanta first reported. Opened in 2017 at the corner of Ralph McGill Boulevard and Glen Iris Drive, owner George DeMeglio tells Eater he hopes to begin construction on the restaurant this summer, which will be built from the ground up on the site.
DeMeglio says he never intended to open a second location of A Mano. But those plans changed after he participated in the Beltgrind road race two years ago. The bike race travels through the southern and western portions of the Beltline trail in Atlanta.
“I saw lots of people out working on their homes, their yards, many waving to me as I went by on my bike,” DeMeglio says of the neighborhoods surrounding the southwest Beltline trail. “I was really taken by the sense of community I felt by just biking around the area. That feeling, reinforced by having such a stellar staff [at A Mano], moved me to start looking for a property in the area.”
DeMeglio, along with business partner and friend Alejandro Silva, formed Nuova Properties, LLC and purchased the parcel of land one block south of Murphy Avenue and half a mile north of food truck park and community green space Triton Yards. The pair are working with A Mano architect Richard Nelson of CNNA Architects on the design for the restaurant, which includes a patio and a rooftop deck. While not reflected in the current rendering, plans also call for “fairly extensive” landscaping around the building.

Expect the menu at A Mano-Murphy’s Crossing to be similar but not exactly the same as the Old Fourth Ward restaurant. “Pre-covid, most of our guests enjoyed a coursed dining experience. A Mano-Murphy’s Crossing will offer the same pasta and apps we are known for, but rather than contorni e secondi, offer small plates,” says DeMeglio. “That will help us keep the price points more affordable and the service a bit more casual.”
As with the Old Fourth Ward location, the Murphy’s Crossing restaurant will regularly host pop-up chefs and continue its Lend a Hand charity dinners and fundraising events in support of local communities and nonprofit organizations.
