Rooftop restaurant Botanico Kitchen and Bar in Buckhead closes after one year above Savi Provisions on Pharr Road citing a recent uptick in crime in the area. Plans to “reinvent the brand” and relocate the club-like Mexican restaurant and bar are already underway, a statement posted to Botanico’s social media pages and its website indicates.
However, a representative speaking on behalf of Savi Provisions and owner Paul Nair says crime isn’t the reason for the closure of the restaurant.
“The location has been sold to the franchisee along with the lease. Botanico and the franchisee could not agree on the operation and terms, so the franchisee decided to terminate,” the spokesperson tells Eater in an email, who declined to provide details on what might replace Botanico.
Owned by chef Luis Damian, Botanico replaced cafe and bar Rise and Revelry on the second floor of Savi Provisions in February 2020, serving dishes from the Puebla and Guadalajara regions of Mexico. Damian, who hails from Puebla, was previously the executive chef at Big Sky in Buckhead. The design was meant to evoke a “greenhouse” feel with live plants and an all-weather patio, reminiscent of high-end restaurants found in Mexican coastal resort towns such as Tulum.
Eater reached out to representatives of Botanico Monday morning for comment.
