Papi’s Cuban Cuisine opens at Krog Street Market this spring
A location of Papi’s Cuban restaurant opens as a food stall at Krog Street Market later this spring, a representative tells Eater. Papi’s takes the place of previously announced Hemingway’s. The Tampa-based Cuban restaurant and sangria bar was scheduled to open a stall beside Soul: Food and Culture at the market. Papi’s includes six Atlanta locations in Midtown, Stockbridge, Kennesaw, Lawrenceville, Emory Point (temporarily closed), and at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Los Angeles-based restaurant Blaqhaus opens a location on Marietta Square
Entrepreneurs Takela Corbitt, Rashied Cofield, and Lavell Bynum opened a second location of north Hollywood restaurant Blaqhaus on Atlanta Street over the weekend. Merging food, music, and culture, the restaurant offers a full bar and hookah and serves dishes like catfish and grits, chicken and waffles, rasta pasta, oxtails, and lobster lollipops. Open daily. A location of Playa Bowls opens this week in Peachtree Corners
Playa Bowls opens Friday, April 2, on Town Center Boulevard in Peachtree Corners. The Peachtree Corners location joins two other Atlanta-area restaurants in Chamblee and on the Eastside Beltline trail in the Old Fourth Ward. People create DIY bowls using a superfood base like acai berry, chia seeds, or kale with added toppings, including fruit, granola, and nuts. [Official]
Grant Park Eats opens at the Beacon in Grant Park
Grant Park Eats, owned by Travis Harris, Wesley Mollon, and chef Chris Hughes, is now open in the former Third Street Goods space at the Beacon complex. The restaurant serves soups, salads, sandwiches, and Mediterranean-style tapas with a focus on house-roasted meats. Expect beer, wine, and cocktails from the bar. Once open in the former Cardinal bar space behind the restaurant, Zoo Bar will serve charcuterie, wings, and entrees like grilled lobster tail paired with “speakeasy-style” cocktails. Masks required. Kathleen’s Catch opens in Brookhaven
A third Atlanta-area location of seafood market Kathleen’s Catch is now open on Clairmont Road in Brookhaven. Kathleen’s Catch, which includes locations in Milton and Johns Creek, sells fresh fish, oysters, clams, shrimp, crab, and lobster and prepared items and sandwiches, such as its popular lobster roll and crab cake sandwich, chowders, and smoked trout dip. The prepared foods menu and fresh seafood in the cold cases for all three locations of Kathleen’s Catch are similar, with some variations in the fish and shellfish offered due to customer demand or requests at each market. Candler Rail Brewery opens in Candler Park
Candler Rail Brewery opened earlier this month on Dekalb Avenue, the AJC first reported. Owned by Allen and Win Porter and Chris and Cathy McDonald, the brewery currently offers eight beers on tap, including IPAs, a Mexican lager, a Hefeweizen, and a porter-style beer. In addition to beer, Candler Rail also includes two hard seltzers on tap and offers more than 50 tequilas along with tequila cocktails at the bar. Expect a mix of Tex-Mex and Asian-inspired dishes on the food menu. [AJC]
