Flower Child Brings Even More Superfood to Westside Provisions District in May

Superfood-heavy Flower Child joins grain bowl restaurant Upbeet on Howell Mill

Fast-casual restaurant Flower Child opens Tuesday, May 11, in the former J. Crew space at Westside Provisions District, bringing its superfood-heavy menu to Howell Mill Road. The restaurant already includes two Atlanta-area locations in Buckhead and Sandy Springs and nearly two dozen locations throughout the southern and western United States.

Most dishes on the menu cater to people living gluten free, paleo, vegetarian, and vegan lifestyles and offers drinks like daily-made lemonades, Atlanta’s Golda Kombucha, and a selection of wine and local beers. When it opens in mid-May, the Westside Provisions District restaurant will also feature a salmon dish on the menu served with red chile-glazed sweet potatoes and gluten-free mac and cheese created by Atlanta Hawks basketball player De’Andre Hunter called the Game Dre Meal.

Flower child joins two other health food-focused restaurants in the area. Grab-and-go cafe and juice bar Cafe West opened last year across from Lululemon and Perrine’s Wine Shop at Westside Provisions District. Upbeet, owned by the team behind Yeah Burger, is located across the street at the Ironworks complex.

The dining scene at Westside Provisions District has been reinvigorated recently with the additions of restaurants like Tal Baum’s Aziza, chef Zeb Stevenson’s Redbird, and Forza Storico opening over the last two years there.

Mushi Ni, the Asian-American comfort food stall run by chefs Tanya Jimenez and Michael Le inside East Atlanta’s We Suki Suki, began a year-long kitchen residency last year at Little Trouble beneath Marcel at the property.

Across the street, the emerging Interlock development is one of three large mixed-used complexes featuring residences, restaurants, and retail currently under construction along a stretch of Howell Mill from 14th to 8th streets. The $450 million complex includes apartments, the Bellyard hotel with its cocktail bar Draw Bar, and indoor golf gaming bar Puttshack. Outdoor bar Holiday Bar, new locations of self-service beer and cider bar Pour Taproom and Velvet Taco, and Cathy’s Gourmet Ice Cream Sandwiches are all scheduled to open at the Interlock in the coming months.

Alabama-based coffee shop and roastery Prevail Roasters opened last fall at the new Star Metals development on Howell Mill Road. Beer and wine bar SMR Tap should also open some time this summer at Star Metals. All-day breakfast restaurant Snooze an A.M. Eatery is opening later this year at the Osprey complex on the corner of 10th Street and Howell Mill.

Open daily, 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Masks required. Outdoor dining available. Order online for takeout.
