All-day breakfast and brunch restaurant the Breakfast Boys opens this spring in the former Kafenio space on Main Street in College Park.
Backed by Lorenzo Wyche (Gocha’s Breakfast Bar, Rock Steady, Breakfast At Barney’s) and Gee and Juan Smalls (Virgil’s Gullah Kitchen), the restaurant promises to be a place to socialize while dining on pineapple upside-down French toast or jerk chicken and waffles paired with peach cobbler lattes and passionfruit mimosas.
Wyche is no stranger to the burgeoning Atlanta brunch restaurant scene. He opened his first brunch-focused restaurant the Social House on Howell Mil Road in Berkeley Park 14 years ago before closing it in 2013. He followed that up with a handful of similar restaurants, including Arize Breakfast Cafe in Camp Creek, Nouveau Bar and Grill in College Park, Gocha’s on Cascade Road, and Breakfast at Barney’s on Decatur Street in Sweet Auburn.
Like Wyche’s other brunch establishments, the Breakfast Boys will operate as both a restaurant and a sort of social club. “Our fans in Atlanta are always looking for a place to gather during the day for great food and a great vibe,” Wyche says in the press release, who first met the Smalls when he consulted on Virgil’s Gullah Kitchen.
