A second location of College Park restaurant and lounge Nouveau Bar and Grill opens in July at the former Firehouse Museum in Jonesboro, bringing its comfort food menu, Friday night karaoke, and celebrity-hosted Mimosa Jam brunches to the south metro Atlanta city.

Past brunches have been hosted or attended by Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss and rapper 2 Chainz, both of whom own restaurants in Atlanta.

Billed as a Chicago-themed restaurant, owner Ebony Austin first opened Nouveau Bar and Grill two years ago in College Park. The menu centers around comfort foods like jerk wings, sticky fried ribs, four cheese spinach dip, and Windy City crab cakes paired with boozy punches, frozen daiquiris, and other cocktails.

The opening of Nouveau Bar and Grill on West Mill Street is part of the Broad Street Project meant to revitalize a portion of downtown Jonesboro by bringing in new restaurants and businesses and a park to an area between Broad Street and Riley Way.

“We are so excited about coming to Jonesboro,” Austin says in a press release. “We are looking forward to helping boost the city’s economy by opening our second location there.”

In addition to her restaurants, Austin says she also plans to become involved in the Jonesboro community through philanthropic works. Last year, she partnered with Goodie Mob crooner CeeLo Green to provide turkeys for metro Atlanta families in need during the holidays and donated care packages to students who weren’t able to attend graduation ceremonies due to the pandemic.

Nouveau Bar and Grill joins brothers Desrick and Alrick Smith who recently opened Spicy Hill Restaurant on Tara Road in Jonesboro serving classic Jamaican dishes and twists on Jamaican fare. Aisha “Pinky” Cole opened her second Slutty Vegan burger restaurant last summer in a historic home on North McDonough Street in the city. It became Cole’s first full-service Slutty Vegan restaurant with an expanded menu from that of the original Westview neighborhood location, indoor seating, and a small retail shop.
