Yet another celebrity is bringing their delivery-only restaurant to Atlanta. This time it’s comedian and TV host George Lopez slinging street tacos he apparently created himself.
Lopez teamed up with virtual restaurant management company Nextbite to open his eponymous restaurant George Lopez Tacos, which launches in cities across the country on June 8, including in Atlanta, Dallas, New York City, Los Angeles, and Seattle. According to the press release, Lopez created the “badass” street tacos and the salsas for the menu himself.
Like other ghost kitchen management companies, Nextbite partners with area restaurants to host these virtual kitchens and act as local pick-up points for delivery apps like UberEats, DoorDash, Postmates, and GrubHub. It’s unclear which Atlanta-area restaurant will host George Lopez Tacos in its kitchen or if there will be more than one restaurant involved.
Nextbite also operates ghost kitchens for celebrities like Wiz Khalifa and his wings and tater tot restaurant HotBox.
Eater reached out for more details on George Lopez Tacos.
In March, celebrity chef and self-proclaimed mayor of Flavortown Guy Fieri launched his delivery-only restaurant Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Kitchen from the kitchen of Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant on Mansell Road in Alpharetta. The delivery-only restaurant serves cheesesteak egg rolls, chicken parm-eroni pasta, burgers, wings, and sandwiches all with that distinctive Fieri flare (aka donkey sauce).
