LITTLE FIVE POINTS — Iconic dive bar Euclid Avenue Yacht Club reopened earlier in June after closing for more than a year due to the pandemic. Former owner Donald “Hippie” Hinamon sold the business to Manuel “Manny” Maloof last fall, who owns Grant Park bar Manny’s. Prior to the health crisis, Hinamon and Maloof had been discussing a possible deal with Maloof becoming a major investor in the bar.
It appears not much has changed in terms of the Yacht Club’s layout or decor. Maloof made a few necessary updates to the bar’s plumbing, grease traps, and toilets in the restrooms to make those Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant. Some new dishes may also be added to the menu. Hinamon opened the Yacht Club in 1987 inside a former jewelry store along Euclid Avenue. Over the years, the bar has built up a very loyal band of regulars who come to shoot the breeze over cheap canned beer or dive bar classics like $5 hurricanes. [Instagram/EATL]
