Italian restaurant and market Tre Vele, from Mission and Market chef Ian Winslade and brothers Ryan and Jonathan Akly, opens this summer in Sandy Springs at the City Walk complex. Tre Vele takes over the former Three Sheets restaurant and lounge, which the Akly family opened at City Walk in 2010.
Led in the kitchen by chef Giancarlo Ruiz (Storico Fresco), the menu for Tre Vele will feature classic and original takes on Italian dishes and handmade pastas, like cavatelli with lamb sugo and strozzapreti with vegan kale pesto, and entrees such as veal Milanese, braised oxtail with a red wine tomato sauce, and red snapper acqua pazza. Before moving to Atlanta, Ruiz lived in Florence, Italy, for 16 years and trained under a number of Italian chefs while working at restaurants throughout the city.
In addition to the restaurant, a market selling Italian wine and Tre Vele’s pastas, sauces, and prepared meals and an all-day cafe serving coffee drinks and pastries are also planned.

The design for the dining room at Tre Vele, with its 30-foot Carrera marble bar and views of the glass-encased pasta room, features natural wood and white and black marble accents throughout and trellises of plants along the ceiling. A rooftop terrace and lounge above the dining room seats 90 people.
Winslade opened Mission and Market three years ago at Three Alliance Center in Buckhead with the Aklys. A classically trained chef, the food from Winslade and his team at Mission and Market is a mix of fresh, classic, and familiar dishes, including grilled Spanish octopus, thin crust pizzas and handmade pastas, and entrees of seared steelhead trout and ginger-marinated duck steak.
