Nothing Says ‘Luxury Dining Experience’ Quite Like a Steak Completely Covered in Gold Leaf

The 200-seat Steak Market takes over the former Simon’s restaurant on Juniper offering some steaks encrusted in gold leaf and a members-only cigar lounge

A three-level steakhouse with a members-only cigar lounge, DJs, and a menu offering gold leaf-encrusted steaks opens in early September on Juniper Street in Midtown.

The 200-seat Steak Market, owned by Kemal Karsli (Sivas Hookah Lounge) and Okan Yildirim, takes over the former Simon’s restaurant, which closed last May after just three years there. Simon’s replaced rapper Ludacris’s restaurant Straits before it was renamed to Time Restaurant and Lounge.

Karsli and Yildirim, along with general manager Murat Nalcioglu, aim to provide their patrons with a “one-of-a-kind”, “luxury” dining experience over three levels and the bar at Steak Market. Pricing for the steaks and a menu for the restaurant are currently unavailable, but expect the “highest quality” (likely super marked up) cuts, with beef sourced from Georgia farms, gold-grade American Wagyu, certified Australian Wagyu, and certified Japanese Kobe. It appears some steaks here can come encased within gimmicky gold leaf, too.

Beyond its stunt steaks, the restaurant also plans to serve seafood and raw bar selections and weekend brunch. As for beverages, look for a vast wine list, cocktails, and the bar to carry a collection of 300 varieties of scotch and whiskey.

In addition to the various dining spaces throughout the restaurant, Steak Market will feature a 12-person private dining room on the top level and a members-only cigar lounge on the bottom level. Lounge members receive a private locker, private access and hours, and priority reservations at Steak Market with a ten percent discount.

When asked about the large seating capacity at Steak Market and the labor shortages currently facing restaurants in Atlanta and across the country, Nalcioglu tells Eater they are “confident we will be able to recruit talent” for the more than 50 open positions. Nalcioglu says they are working with recruiters as part of the hiring process, and feels comfortable they will manage to hire the necessary workforce to operate the 200-seat restaurant and open Steak Market on time later this summer.
