VININGS: A location of Bartaco opens next summer at Vinings Jublilee, replacing Mexican restaurant Guaco Joe’s at the boutique complex. Bartaco, backed by the restaurant group behind Barcelona Wine Bar, includes a menu centered around tacos and rice bowls, along with margaritas and other beachy cocktails. The Vinings location joins three other locations in Chastain Park, Inman Park, and along the Marietta Street Artery on Atlanta’s west side. [Official]
UNDERWOOD HILLS: The third location of Cuban sandwich shop Cubanos ATL is now open inside Chattahoochee Food Works food hall. The Cubanos ATL stall, located across from Banh Mi Station, features Cuban coffee drinks and four sandwiches on the menu: a traditional Cuban called El Miami; the El Tampa with roast pork, ham, salami, pickles, and Swiss cheese; the El Pollo chicken sandwich mixed with aioli and topped with pickles and Swiss cheese; and a media noche. CASTLEBERRY HILL: A location of Brooklyn Tea, based in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, opens in Castleberry Hill this summer. The shop features nearly 100 types of loose-leaf teas, along with other hot and iced tea drinks and should also serve vegan pastries on the menu. Longtime friend and entrepreneur Kerri-Ann Thomas reached out to owners Jamila McGill and Alfonso (Ali) Wright about opening a location in Atlanta. Thomas and McGill attended nearby Spelman College together, and Thomas often assisted behind the scenes at Brooklyn Tea. [Official]
MIDTOWN: Sean Bishop purchased gastropub Atlantic Grill at Atlantic Station and plans to renovate and make upgrades to the interior and exterior of the restaurant and add new dishes and drink specials to the menu. Atlantic Grill will remain open throughout the process, with renovations expected to be complete by early 2022. A longtime resident of Atlantic Station and regular of Atlantic Grill, Bishop takes over for Paul Sachetti, who is retiring. [Official]
BUCKHEAD: Lucy’s Market owner Kim Wilson plans to expand her Buckhead neighborhood market on East Andrews Drive. Wilson is adding 1,000 square feet to the space. The market will remain open during the construction, which should take approximately two months and be completed by early September. Once renovations are finished, the market will feature a second entrance in the back, an expanded home decor area, and provide more space for wine, food, Lucy’s gift baskets, and fresh produce. DUNWOODY: A second Atlanta-area location of Iron Hill Brewery opens August 2 on Hammond Drive near Perimeter Mall. The Buckhead location of the Delaware-based brewpub chain opened in December 2020 at Lenox Marketplace on Peachtree Road. Expect a mostly pub fare menu, which includes soups and salads as well as burgers and sandwiches, and steak, paired with a variety of pilsners, lagers, and IPAs. [Official]
