It appears popsicle company King of Pops is planning to open another walk-up bar in Atlanta, this time at Westside Paper, a 15-acre industrial warehouse complex currently under redevelopment across from King Plow Arts Center.
King of Pops just signed a lease at Westside Paper that will see the bar serving its signature pop-tails, slushies, beer, and wine as well as its popular popsicles and soft serve ice cream there, the Atlanta Business Chronicle first reported. King of Pops already offers such drinks at three other walk-up bar locations at Colony Square in Midtown, inside the food hall at Ponce City Market, and at its headquarters off of DeKalb Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward. The latter includes outdoor seating and often hosts food pop-ups throughout the week.
Chef Santiago Gomez, who recently opened Mexican restaurant and rooftop lounge Palo Santo at King Plow across the street, is also planning to open El Santo Gallo taqueria at Westside Paper, according to a press release. Ancestral Bottle Shop and Market from restaurateur Roxana Aguirre brings a wine shop to the development, too, focused on South American vintages.
King of Pops and El Santo Gallo join several other restaurants and bars planned for Westside Paper. New locations of pizzeria Glide Pizza, chef Anne Quatrano’s Ponce City Market restaurant Pancake Social, chef Richard Tang’s Girl Diver, Elsewhere Brewing, and the first Georgia location of Boxcar Betty’s should all open in 2023 at the development.
Westside Paper is located on West Marietta Street in northwest Atlanta just off of a future Beltline spur near the Westside Beltline Connector and Westside Quarry Park.
