Another Atlanta location of the popular salad and grain bowl chain Sweetgreen opens Tuesday, March 22, at the emerging Star Metals complex on Howell Mill Road.
For those unfamiliar with the menu, Sweetgreen serves salad and grain bowl combinations, along with specials created by celebrity chefs and a rotating selection of “seasonal” salads and bowls throughout the year.
The Star Metals location includes seating inside and on the front patio with counter service, community tables, and a pick up area for people who order food to go online. As with the design features at the Ponce City Market restaurant, Sweetgreen partnered again with local art organization TILA Studios, an incubator focused on showcasing work from Black female artists in Atlanta. For the Howell Mill location, Sweetgreen commissioned a piece inspired by the architecture of the city from local artist Ash McNamara.
For every meal purchased during the March 22 grand opening, Sweetgreen plans to donate one meal to Atlanta food justice and food rescue organization Umi Feeds.
Sweetgreen joins coffee shop Prevail Union and future locations of dart bar and restaurant chain Fight Club and Japanese restaurant and ramen chain Wagamama at Star Metals. Chef Atsushi “Art” Hayakawa is also relocating his eponymous restaurant Sushi Hayakawa this year to the Howell Mill complex. Unlike the current location on Buford Highway, Sushi Hayakawa at Star Metals will offer a more intimate dining experience with just eight seats at the sushi counter.
In addition to the Howell Mill Road restaurant, Sweetgreen currently includes three other Atlanta locations at Ponce City Market, Colony Square in Midtown, and at Lenox Square Mall in Buckhead. A fifth location opens later this spring in Dunwoody at the Ashford Lane development in Perimeter Center.
