A new pop-up cocktail bar called Excuse My French, backed by restaurateur Aaron Mattison (Bar Vegan), is now open inside artisan marketplace Citizen Supply on the second floor of Ponce City Market. Serving French cocktails, wine, and beer, Excuse My French takes over the space previously home to cocktail bar Likewise inside Citizen Supply.
Led by bar manager Crayton Peterson, expect cocktails like the Kir Royale, French 75, and French martini (vodka and raspberry liqueur) paired with bar bites, along with a small selection of wine and beer.
A weekly shop and sip event takes place every Saturday afternoon, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., offering a dedicated bellini bar and $8 mimosas.
Citizen Supply, which sells goods and clothing from entrepreneurial artisans and fashion designers, opened at Ponce City Market in 2015. The marketplace debuted in-store cocktail bar Likewise in 2019, which also offered food from local chefs and pop-ups, including from chef Duane Kulers (Supremo Taco, Pollo Primo).
Founder Phil Sanders departed Citizen Supply at the end of 2021, transferring its management and operations to Ponce City Market.
Ponce City Market and the sprawling property surrounding it are currently undergoing a multi-million dollar expansion, adding an apartment tower, new food stalls inside the central food hall, and buildings with more offices, restaurants, and retail spaces. A location of salad and grain bowl restaurant SweetGreen opened in 2021 next to SoulCycle along North Avenue.
