Bakery and cafe Baker Dude is now open in the former Rise and Dine space at Emory Village. Rise and Dine, the all-day breakfast staple known for its sweet potato pancakes, Belgian waffles, and egg sandwiches, closed in 2020 after 13 years on North Decatur Road due to unrecoverable financial losses stemming from the early months of the pandemic.
Owned by Orran Booher, Baker Dude at Emory Village becomes the largest and first dine-in location of the popular Atlanta bakery and cafe. With seating for 30 people inside and 10 people on the patio, Baker Dude serves breakfast, lunch, and whole pizzas on the menu, some with cauliflower crusts and topped with vegan mozzarella cheese.
Look for cupcakes at Baker Dude style after those found in Europe, which tend to be smaller and less sweet, along with cakes, breads and pastries baked daily, and dishes like egg wraps, chicken and tuna salad sandwiches, and a selection of quiches on the cafe menu served during breakfast, brunch, and lunch.
Display cases and coolers are also stocked with grab-and-go food, deli meats and cheeses, cupcakes and cakes, and take-and-bake pizzas. A small retail area sells local soaps and bath bombs, local honey, and Baker Dude water bottles, t-shirts, and coffee mugs.
Previously located in Midtown, Booher relocated his cupcake and cake shop to the Beacon in Grant Park four years ago, where he expanded the menu. A second location opened in 2021 inside Underwood Hills food hall Chattahoochee Food Works.
