Home Park restaurant and Georgia Tech student hangout Rocky Mountain Pizza is closed temporarily on Hemphill Avenue after a small fire broke out Monday evening in the front of the building.

The fire began around 6:30 p.m. in an electrical box near the front of the restaurant. Firefighters arrived moments later to smoke rising from the roof of the restaurant. Staff and patrons were ushered out of the pizzeria and the blaze was quickly extinguished. No one was injured and fire officials say the damage was contained to the area around the electrical box.

It’s unclear how long Rocky Mountain Pizza will remain closed, but a statement posted to social media and on the website indicates the restaurant could be back up and running “very soon” once repairs are made.

Rocky Mountain Pizza opened in 1996 at the corner of Hemphill Avenue and McMillan Street. The v-shaped building is sandwiched between the two streets, just north of 10th Street and the northern edge of the Georgia Tech campus.
