Humble Pie, a restaurant serving wood-fired pizzas and a variety of dessert pies, opens Wednesday, January 18, at the Interlock on Howell Mill Road. The restaurant will initially open for lunch and dinner, Wednesday through Sunday, with a weekday happy hour and late-night food beginning in the coming weeks.

Backed by Lazy Betty chefs Ron Hsu and Aaron Phillips, expect wood-fired pizzas (think classic margherita, Greek, clam, or broccoli and cheddar) and dishes like a French onion hand pie, glazed cauliflower steak, and a potato croquette topped with trout roe, grated eggs, and crème fraiche from chef Evelyn Ling (Juniper Cafe, Pancake Social, Bacchanalia.) The menu also features a burger with American cheese, caramelized onions, and garlic aioli and shrimp casarecce pasta. Athens-based farm DaySpring Farms is supplying grains to Humble Pie for making its whole wheat and sourdough doughs. Pizzas also come with the option to add caviar and black truffles.

Look for dessert pies from pastry chef Carelys Vazquez, including slices of spiced apple buckle cake topped with oat crumble and dulce de leche and a scoop of fresh vanilla bean ice cream and chocolate mudslide pie crowned with hazelnut cream and chocolate cookie crumb. Cocktails, wines on tap and by the glass, and a selection of local beers and ciders are available from the bar.

Humble Pie features an open and airy design offering multiple seating areas. This includes a counter with views of the wood-burning pizza oven, dining tables throughout and a lounge, an upstairs mezzanine for private events, and patios with indoor/outdoor bars.

The restaurant joins Velvet Taco, sushi bar Kinjo Room, Holiday Bar, Saint-Germain Bakery, Puttshack, and rooftop bar and restaurant L.O.A now open at the Interlock, with Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, Pinky Promise champagne bar, the X Pot, Five Guys burgers, and Starbucks opening as part of the second phase in 2024.

Hsu and Phillips recently closed their Vietnamese restaurant and bakery Juniper Cafe a little over a year after opening at Westside Village on Marietta Boulevard. The chefs plan to relocate the restaurant closer to in-town Atlanta and open a new restaurant in the former Juniper Cafe space at Westside Village.
