A pizzeria serving Southern riffs on pizza and a restaurant serving Belgian Liege waffles are headed to the Avenue East Cobb later this year.

Peach State Pizza, from brothers David and Michael Cohen, opens this summer, followed by a franchise location of Shark Tank success story Press Waffle Co. in the fall.

Peach State Pizza

Merging Atlanta sports and pizza under one roof, Peach State will serve a variety of wood-fired pies with traditional pizza toppings like pepperoni and sausage, along with a few pizzas topped with house-smoked meats and other Southern and local ingredients. The menu also features salads and sandwiches, as well as cocktails and a mostly local beer list. Expect televisions throughout the dining room and bar tuned into baseball, football, soccer, and basketball, especially when an Atlanta team is playing. Design plans call for two patios and decor styled after a Southern farmhouse to include vintage photos and signs and artwork depicting local and Georgia landmarks.

Press Waffle Co.

Launched as a food truck in 2016 by Bryan Lewis, the menu for Press Waffle Co. centers on sweet and savory versions of Liege waffles. Lewis and his brother Caleb eventually opened permanent locations of Press Waffle Co. in Dallas and the surrounding area, before appearing on the ABC television series Shark Tank in 2019 in hopes of securing financing to franchise their growing waffle business. They ended up landing a deal with resident Shark investor Barbara Ann Corcoran. Owned by Keith and Niki Ginel, the East Cobb location will offer Press Waffle Co.’s full menu of Liege waffles, including the Southern topped with lemon curd, whipped cream, and blueberries and a waffle topped with fried chicken.

A location of butcher shop and deli New York Butcher Shoppe recently opened at Avenue East Cobb selling steaks and other cuts of meat, prepared pasta dishes and sandwiches, wine, and cheese.

The East Cobb complex is also home to locations of Tin Lizzy’s Cantina and Kale Me Crazy and to chef Doug Turbush’s seafood restaurant Drift Fish House and Oyster Bar. Turbush also owns Seed Kitchen and Bar and Stem Wine Bar nearby at Merchant’s Walk on Johnson Ferry Road.
