Brothers Joel and Charles Norman, along with friends Tommy Keough and Ben Shaum, founded Bellwood Coffee as a mobile coffee business in 2018. A year later, the partners landed a more permanent space inside Jim Adams Farm and Table, serving coffee and espresso drinks and soda concoctions from the counter at the restaurant and selling Bellwood’s locally roasted beans.
When Jim Adams closed in 2019, the Normans, Keough, and Shaum chose to continue serving from Bolton Road, before closing the shop temporarily in 2021 to focus on opening the East Atlanta Village location inside the Victorian plant shop. Joel Norman told Eater at the time of the East Atlanta Village opening that they planned on retaining the Bolton Road location and would eventually reopen there as a full-service coffee shop with seating and pastries. The Riverside shop now serves as Bellwood Coffee’s flagship roastery and cafe, as well as its first standalone location.
In addition to the East Atlanta Village and Riverside shops, Bellwood Coffee also serves from the lobby of the 1776 Peachtree building on the border between Buckhead and Midtown.
