View as Map

Burger Week continues! Here's burger correspondent James Martin, co-founder of the Burger Coalition, on the most iconic meat and bun offerings in Atlanta.

Burgers are a big part of the American upbringing. From family dinners to summer cookouts and post-game celebrations, this is a dish that brings people together. Atlanta in particular has all kinds of great options, from places that most people may know about to establishments tucked away in neighborhoods. No doubt, there are fine new additions to our city, but what makes Atlanta so great is the story behind old standbys and their diversity. We've got burgers that demand attention and some that are more reserved. Fine dining burgers and burgers from dives. Burgers that call for one patty and others that demand a stack. Make no mistake that there will be a burger here that you won't be able to stop thinking about. Below, 11 options from all parts of town that are held together by two things: they are delicious and they are home.

The Vortex's vibe is evenly matched with its burger selection. A burger using Sublime Doughnuts as the bun? That’s crazy to some but delicious to most. It’s worth the calories, but if it’s not your style, don’t fear. There’s no penalty for swapping the glazed doughnuts for something more traditional.
