Twain's Brewpub & Billiards
One of Decatur’s longest-operating pubs, Twain’s continues to anchor Decatur’s beer scene. All of the draft beer served at Twain’s is brewed in house by brewmaster Chase Medlin. Popular beers include their Messispi Nut Brown Ale and the Four Count Pale Ale. With a recently revamped menu that expands and expounds on gastropub offerings, Twain’s is a place to go for great beer and eats.

Communion
One newcomer to the list is Kevin Gillespie’s Communion, which recently opened in Revival’s backyard. Communion deserves mention for bringing a traditional beer garden atmosphere to Atlanta. Beer drinkers can enjoy old world-style, European drafts and bottled beers along with snacks from the food truck, which serves chef Andreas Müller’s take on classic German beer garden treats such as Bavarian pretzels and sausages with sauerkraut.

Brick Store Pub
Any list of places to drink beer around Atlanta is suspect if the list doesn’t begin with The Brick Store in Decatur. Recognized regularly as one the best beer bars in the country, The Brick Store has been at the center of beer drinking in Atlanta for 20 years. From the rotating list of seasonal taps, to the Belgian bar upstairs, to the treasures from The Brick Store cellar, this is a beer lover’s dream, and anyone with a serious interest in beer should be a regular here.

Steinbeck's
Steinbeck’s feels like an old-fashioned, comfy ale house, a bar where any real beer lover would want to hang out. Tucked away in Oakhurst, Steinbeck’s is locals’ go-to for beer drinking, thoughtful pub fare, and rambunctious action when soccer is on. You can always find old standbys such as Guinness at Steinbeck’s, but the beer list also features numerous local selections from some of Georgia’s hottest breweries, as well as craft beers from around the country.
Mason Tavern
Another newcomer is Mason Tavern, which opened in in August.. The tavern has ten taps dedicated mostly to Georgia breweries such as Creature Comforts, Wild Heaven, and Three Taverns. There is a larger list of by-the-bottle offerings that maintains the focus on local beers too. Look for Mason Tavern’s ongoing series of Better Know a GA Brewer, during which you can meet local brewers enjoy a tap takeover of some of Georgia’s best breweries.

Wrecking Bar Brewpub
Since 2010, The Wrecking Bar has offered not only a smart and diverse beer program, but also featured some of the best food you will ever find in a pub atmosphere. A functioning brewery, Wrecking Bar brews a variety of styles from lighter lagers to darker porters and stouts. With a rotating list that features 15 taps, there can be up to thirty beers pouring at any given time. Look for Wrecking Bar favorites such as the Victor IPA and the summer-friendly Sea Shanty Gose.

Located in historic downtown Roswell, Roux on Canton has plenty of options for the serious craft beer enthusiast. Since 2007, Cypress Street has been a fixture in the Midtown beer scene. The draft list features many of the best new local beers, as well as great craft beers from around the country.
