It's time to update the Eater 38, your answer and ours to any question that begins, "Can you recommend a restaurant?" This highly elite group covers the entire city, spans myriad cuisines, and collectively satisfies all of your restaurant needs, save for those occasions when you absolutely must spend half a paycheck. Every couple of months, we'll be adding pertinent restaurants that were omitted, have newly become eligible (restaurants must be open at least six months), or have stepped up their game.
This time around, after much reflecting and poring over reader emails and comments, the 38 bids adieu to Leon's Full Service, Alon's Bakery, La Tavola, and Gu's Bistro, not because we'd kick them out of bed in the morning, but because in the spirit of New Year's, we're getting fresh with it. Say hello to our new friends: if 2012 has you switching to the Mediterranean diet, Kyma has you covered. Or perhaps get adventurous with One Eared Stag. Get your fine dining in check where steakhouse meets French technique over at BLT Steak. And Miso Izakaya is one of Bon App's six favorite izakayas in North America. We think it's pretty good, too, along with the other 37 spots on our list.
Disagree? Prove that Southerners still have a few table manners and explain away your grievances/recommendations in the comments or in the tipline.
