The Best Hungover Brunch Spots in Town

View as Map
Highland Bakery.

Hangovers are the worst. They really are, and once one has invaded your body and taken away any shred of productivity that may have been left after a night of hard drinking, there's only one way (well, okay, here are a few more) to get rid of it— brunch. The Hungover Brunch is one of the oldest traditions in this fine country, and Eater is here to point the way to some of the best Atlanta spots for the meal. Remember that the booze doesn't start flowing until 12:30 p.m. on Sundays, so brunch cocktails may be out of the question, but the food at these thirteen hangover-eradicating restaurants will get you back into tip-top shape sooner than a frat boy can down a Jager Bomb.

Home Grown

It's hard to go wrong with Home Grown's brunch. Most people recommend the Comfy Chicken Biscuit, but Nate Shuman of Proof & Provision says they also have fantastic vegetables, like steamed cabbage.

Ria's Bluebird

A brunch map couldn't exist without Ria's Bluebird. Hector Santiago of Pura Vida says, "I always have the same thing: a short stack, some fried eggs over easy, some bacon, and I’m good to go. They have good coffee, too— I have a couple macchiatos and I'm set."

Holeman & Finch Public House

Holeman & Finch is pretty damn good at everything they do. Their morning menu is no different, but the secret is that the otherwise super-limited 10 p.m. burger is sold all through Sunday brunch.

Murphy's

Shane McIntosh of Ocean Catering Company recommends the Eggs T. Murphy at Murphy's. He says it's the "ultimate cure— with a side of bacon and shot of whiskey of course!"

West Egg Cafe

West Egg's doesn't take reservations, which means that if you show up on a weekend, the wait is usually at least 45 minutes. The food and atmosphere are worth it, though, so grab a cocktail while you wait (if it's after 12:30, that is).

Sun in My Belly

The key to brunch at Sun in My Belly is to get any kind of egg and cheese dish. Try it scrambled with herbed boursin or omelet-style with pimento. There's also a menu item called the Hangover, so, you know, how can you go wrong?

El Burro Pollo

Burritos from Pura Vida's Saturday-only sister restaurant, El Burro Pollo, are one of the best hangover cures in town. Get one with a beer or freshly-made juice and share a ceviche with the table.

Cinébistro at Town Brookhaven

The brunch at CineBistro is good, but what's even better is that it's served, along with cocktails, in a cool, dark movie theatre. Is there a hangover cure that can trump that?

Highland Bakery

The breakfast sandwiches, egg dishes, and peanut butter french toast at Highland Bakery are great, but the real hangover cure is the jalapeno cheddar focaccia. Add a side of it to any meal and you'll be good to go.

Gato Bizco Cafe

Right across the street from the Flying Biscuit in Candler Park is Gato Bizco, which offers a brunch menu that many consider superior and that doesn't include a thirty-minute weekend wait time.

Lee's Bakery

Star mixologist Arianne Fielder likes to get pho and Vietnamese coffee from Lee's Bakery when she's hungover. They also have good, cheap banh mi sandwiches.

Manuel's Tavern

Miles Macquarrie from Leon's Full Service says, "A french dip with fries and a beer at Manuel's Tavern is one of my favorite hangover cures."

Rise-n-Dine

Nestled in cozy Emory Village is Rise-n-Dine, a casual and often crowded breakfast joint with great service and food.
