Updating the Eater Heatmap: Where to Eat Right Now

More often than not, tipsters, readers, friends and family of Eater have one question: Where should I eat right now? What are the new restaurants? What haven't I heard of? What's everyone talking about? While the Eater 38 is a crucial resource covering old standbys and neighborhood essentials across the city, it is not a chronicle of the 'it' places of the moment. Thus, we offer the Eater Heatmap, which will change periodically to highlight where the food-crazed crowds are flocking. Since this is a spotlight on what's happening right now, we must bid adieu to places no longer qualify as hot. Therefore, in this edition, we are saying goodbye to Octopus Bar and the Optimist and adding the General Muir, Monday Night Brewing, La Tagliatella, and Woodfire Grill, now that it's under the direction of chef Tyler Williams.

The General Muir

The latest from the West Egg team and chef Todd Ginsberg is the full-service Jewish deli concept, the General Muir. Located in Emory Point and open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch, the restaurant is already pleasing patrons with everything from the poutine to the pastrami sandwich.

Seven Lamps

Nestled into a corner in Buckhead's Shops Around Lenox, Seven Lamps is an intimate spot. Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant offers everything from iced oysters on the half shell, sandwiches, and fresh pasta to innovative cocktails and sodas made in-house.

Monday Night Brewing

Monday Night Brewing opened on the Westside in late January, offering tours, a pint glass, and four eight-ounce pours for ten dollars. The tasting room and patio are huge, and you can find bocce ball, four square, shuffleboard, and old movies in the space.

La Tagliatella USA

La Tagliatella's two very first US outposts opened in Atlanta recently, and the ornate space and impressive menu make the restaurant perfect for business executives or anybody else who likes to make decisions.

Gio's Chicken Amalfitano

Gio's Chicken Amalfitano can be found adjacent to Antico Pizza— it's owned by the same team. The restaurant offers take-out and dine in chicken and pasta Tuesday through Sunday. Creative Loafing recently called it "shockingly good."

Woodfire Grill

As of the end of January, Tyler Williams (formerly of Abattoir) helms the kitchen at Woodfire Grill. His new menu— with international influences and local ingredients— rolls out in mid-February.

Bantam & Biddy

Shaun Doty and Lance Gummere's new rotisserie chicken joint, Bantam & Biddy came to Ansley Mall in October, was reviewed in the AJC last month, and has made a few changes since opening doors: it's now table service instead of counter, and they serve breakfast. Go for duck fat fries, meatloaf, seasonal pies, or bloody Marys if you're not in the mood for the bird.

Ammazza

The newest addition to the pie scene is Ammazza, a Neapolitan-esque pizzeria that sources some ingredients locally instead of importing everything from Italy. Also: they have glitter pizza.
